What material is the cutting wheel made of?
Unlike cheaper steel models that dull quickly, quality generic cutters utilize a long-lasting tungsten carbide cutting wheel. Carbide is extremely hard and resistant to wear. This means you will get a consistent score line for much longer than with standard steel.

Will this cut thick glass and mirror?
Yes, this cutter is suitable for glass thicknesses ranging from 2mm up to 12mm. It is also effective on mirror backing and ceramic tiles. However, it may struggle with tempered glass, which shatters rather than breaks cleanly.
What are the handle and ergonomics like?
The body typically consists of a lightweight wooden or metal handle fused to a chrome-plated head. The ergonomic design allows for a firm grip. The base of the handle often features a rounded “knocking ball.” Instead of using breaking pliers, you can tap the underside of the glass along the score line with this ball to open the cut.
