Heavy duty moment rim lock
Product Description
A heavy duty rim lock is a surface-mounted deadlock. It is designed to provide maximum security for inward-opening timber doors in commercial, industrial, and high-security residential applications.
Unlike mortise locks that are recessed into the door edge, this heavy duty rim lock is mounted on the interior surface of the door. The locking cylinder passes through the door for external key access.
The Loddon heavy duty rim lock features 316 grade stainless steel construction. This provides exceptional durability and corrosion resistance, even in hostile environments.
The through-bolt mounting system passes through the door into the external cylinder housing. This provides enhanced strength and security that resists forced entry attempts.

How Does a Heavy Duty Rim Lock Work?
A common question concerns its operation and installation.
The heavy duty rim lock is surface-mounted on the inside of the door. This makes it ideal for timber doors where mortising might weaken the structure.
When the door closes, the lock automatically secures the door. This eliminates the risk of accidentally leaving the door unlocked.
The lock features a substantial 25mm bolt with an 11mm thickness and a 25mm bolt throw. This provides deep engagement into the door frame for superior holding power.
The bolt dogging feature, which is a manual hold-back facility, is available as an optional enhancement when temporary free passage is required.

What Materials and Construction Features Does This Rim Lock Offer?
The body material is 316 grade stainless steel. This provides maximum corrosion resistance for hostile environments and coastal areas.
The bolt size is 25mm x 11mm. This substantial bolt provides physical resistance to attack. The bolt throw is 25mm, providing deep engagement into the strike plate for secure holding.
The mounting type is surface mount with through-bolts. This provides enhanced strength compared to standard screw mounting. Cycle testing is over 1,000,000 cycles, engineered for longevity and trouble-free service.
What Are the Key Dimensions and Specifications?
The lock type is a rim deadlock with surface mount. Material is 316 grade stainless steel. Bolt size is 25mm x 11mm. Bolt throw is 25mm.
Mounting is through-bolt, passing through the door to the external cylinder housing. Operation requires key entry from outside with single operation egress from inside.
Door suitability is for inward-opening timber doors. Certification meets international standards. Cylinder compatibility is with Ingersoll profile or Rim type cylinders, ordered separately.
What Retrofit Capabilities Does This Rim Lock Offer?
The heavy duty rim lock is specifically designed as a security upgrade for existing doors.
It is a popular retrofit for Ingersoll Rim locks and includes a stainless steel escutcheon plate to cover previous lock mountings. This ensures a clean finish after installation.
This makes it ideal for upgrading older buildings where door surfaces may have existing holes from previous hardware.

What Optional Enhancements Are Available?
Ingersoll cylinder profile housing and protector accepts KIK type cylinders from leading manufacturers. Bolt dogging allows temporary free passage without key operation. A suitable keep for timber doors is included for proper strike plate installation.
Where Should You Use a Heavy Duty Rim Lock?
The heavy duty rim lock is suitable for numerous applications.
For commercial buildings, use for office entrances, server rooms, and secure storage areas. For industrial facilities, use for factory doors, equipment rooms, and warehouse access points.
For high-security residential, use for front doors, back doors, and secure room entrances. For government and institutional buildings, use for schools, hospitals, and public buildings requiring robust security.
For retrofit applications, use for upgrading older doors with existing rim lock mountings.
Why Choose a Heavy Duty Rim Lock Over a Standard Lock?
The heavy duty rim lock offers several distinct advantages for security applications.
The surface-mounted design provides maximum strength. The lock body is fully exposed on the door surface rather than recessed into potentially weaker wood.
The through-bolt mounting system distributes force across the door thickness. This makes it significantly harder to pry or kick open compared to standard screw-mounted locks.
The 25mm bolt throw provides deep engagement into the strike plate. The 316 stainless steel construction ensures longevity even in challenging environments such as coastal areas or industrial settings.
